Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care
Upper cervical technique is a sophisticated procedure that specializes in spinal correction without surgery. It expands on the theory of upper cervical chiropractic & words to reduce the number of treatments for patients. This procedure makes corrections only from the atlas or top of the spine. It can be best described in an analogy of a flexible green stick. If you were to bend the stick, where would you put the stress? The stress would be on the ends and it would bend in the middle. This is much like the spine. Instead of treating the pain in the middle of the spine, the technique corrects the cause of the pain where the pressure is created, at the top of the spine. The procedure involves x-rays before and after the correction, showing immediate improvements.

What is a Misaligned Spine?
An initial injury tears loose the connective tissue holding the spine together. This allows the head and neck to move off center. When this occurs, it changes the biomechanics of the spine and produces wear and tear on the joints. As a result, the movement of the spine requires more energy and the body does not function at full capacity. This decreases the patient's quality of life.
Once the spine is misaligned, the muscles located in the lower spine tighten and pull the hips out of balance. At the same time, the head and neck return to center. This makes the spine twist and contort. The twisting of the mis-alignment stresses the spine at numerous points along its length and causes pain.
How Does Upper cervical Correct a Misaligned Spine?
The upper cervical procedure acknowledges the mis-alignment of the entire spine. The correction is done at the top of the spine, at the level of the atlas. This transmits a force throughout the spine, removes the stress points, and allows the body to come back to a neutral, balanced position.
Our objective is to prescribe exercise and stretching/mobilization routines with surgical precision. Instructions and demonstration are given for your specific challenge. Both stretches and strengthening are provided to all of our patients.
SPINAL DECOMPRESSION / TRACTION
A machine designed to help relieve symptoms cause by disc related conditions (bulge/herniated). These symptoms can include numbness/tingling and radiating pain.
The Matrix combines a few different modalities. It utilizes electrical stimulation , suction, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and interferential current in combination. The electrical stimulation help to slow some of the pain signals from reaching the brain. The suction helps to bring blood to the area and speed the healing process while helping to break up fascial adhesions. the PNF causes the muscles to contract and relax, which helps to retrain the muscles and reduce muscle spasms and interferential current helps to reduce inflammation in the area.
FAKTR stands for Functional and Kinetic treatment with Rehabilitation. It is a soft tissue technique that uses tools specially designed to help break up facial adhesions with the goal of returning normal pain free range of motion.
Unlike traditional kinesio tape, Dynamic tape is intended to help reduce the load that injured muscles need to bare, acting like "training wheels" for the muscles. The tape is designed with athletes in mind so it is flexible enough to not limit any range of motion and strong enough to stick even with vigorous activity such as swimming or rugby.
